Personal Emoluments
The staff has been reduced by the
elimination of one temporary motor driver and a caretaker, the latter being transferred to the Agricultural Department vote. Provision is made for one Cadot Officer on leave under the departmental head instead of under the Treasury vote. for the increase in Personal Emoluments of $12,295.

There is an increase of $8,100 for Travelling Expenses, and $3,000 for the Upkeep of Motor Vehicles. An additional $2,000 is required for Fuel, Light and Power, $1,100 for Uniforms and minor increases occur in other items. There is a decrease of $12,000 under Local Public Works.
The total increase on recurrent expenditure
is $16,357.

Personal Emoluments
The staff has been reduced by the climination of two temporary motor drivers but increased by one now temporary post of Sexton. In addition provision is made for one Cadet Officer Class II on leave under the departmental Head instead of under the Treasury Vote. The net increase in Personal Emoluments is $23,341.
Other Charges
Other Charges are double the 1946/47 figures, largely as a result of the provision of an additional $14,720 for the rent of rooms in the Peninsula Hotel, but efforts are being made to secure less expensive office accommodation and it is hoped that these will be successful within the next few months. Travelling
Expenses account for an additional $4,650 and the remaining $2,000 results from small increases in other items.
